Happy Friday Lovelies!! My natural hair never fails to just amaze me. I am doing a quick update on it’s growth and as well what I changed/didn’t change in my regimen and how it’s going. I am going to try from here on out to do this each month, a monthly check up, in addition to the TBCH Challenge check-ins.
Remember when I posted this picture as my goal reference? Wanting not only healthier, stronger, more bouncy hair, but some even length and fullness all around?
You can see where I started in Nov 2011, a FULL second BC (not sure about the terms? Learn all about them here). Below are a few pics to illustrate a comparison of my hair from Nov 2011, up until now in Sept 2012.
This is first from Nov 2011 to April 2012 which was excellent progress.
Then came August 2012 and my hair was on the move!! It was exciting to finally have some hair reach to my eyebrows, lol
The above photo was taken yesterday (Sept 13, 2012), and I am so pleased with the growth.
What I have been doing
Ensuring that my hair is moisturized has been key for me, and I also found products that work great for my hair. Another thing that helped a lot was low manipulation and as well finger detangling, and using my Backcomber. The new things I introduced into my regimen was the use of the Qhemet Biologics line {full product review is coming up}, and as well I tried out a new oil. My biggest tip from this growth period was low manipulation. I didn’t play in my hair often, and even so..I still felt like I probably could have left my hair alone some more. I also did mini-plaits and had those in for a month. I co-washed often, moisturized and seal and let air dry.
I never wash my hair and then hop for the blow-dryer. I instead always air-dry. And if you do plan to blow dry make sure to do so on damp hair. Soaking wet hair being blow-dryed will fry and boil!!
The Ultra Comparisons
Say what?!? I’m loving it!
There you have it..my hair is now roughly neck-length? umm..I have to do a real check and come back to tell ya’ll.
My Goals for Oct-Dec 2012?
Keep at this low manipulation regiment, protect my ends more, trim my ends, and as well implement castor oil usage more often. Right now I do it somewhat sporadically, but castor oil is great, as I mentioned in this post. While I am still wanting my hair to grow to APL, I must admit, my main focus is health!! If my hair is not breaking and is retaining length and growth, then the APL will come, but if my hair is not being fed the nutrients it needs, then it simply will not grow.
How about you?? How has your hair grown since last time?
~Hope you enjoyed! Till next time stay lovely and afroniquely you!
