Yay!! Hi my lovelies! It’s so good to finally be writing again. For the record, I don’t like being sick! It just takes too much away from me, and away from my time..because a sick Sasha is always a bed-ridden-out of this world, always sleeping Sasha. Anyways, so let’s talk about the crochet braids. You all remember the set I put in a month ago? {be sure to click here to see the first crochet braids post} Well, four weeks later, I’m here to dish on how it went, what I did, things I recommend, etc.

Overall, I LOVE this style! This is certainly going to be my go-to protective style when I use extensions. it was too simple to put in, and carefree to wear, to not love it. Honestly, one thing I dread when doing braids is the very art of painstakingly putting it in., that takes time. Not so with the crochet braids. Ya’ll most likely remember me rambling about it in the first post, so I will spare you, haha. But just know, if you were considering it, do it!

So, how’d you maintain it?

Maintenance..what would this post be without a talk on how I maintained it? Hmmm, well you’ll probably be surprised when I say what I did. To be honest, I did mostly NOTHING! lol…Aside from the many days of nothingness, I had two or three days where I did the pineapple method on it, that worked out lovely. Other days, I did about 5 to 8 large twists at night, tied it down then slept. The next morning, unloose, fluff and voila! Done! Now, those two methods only occurred at most, a week. The rest of the month, Sasha went to bed with the hair untouched and uncovered. Woke up the next day, fluffed and shaped if needed, and went on her way! <<YEH, I did that for 3 weeks and didn’t once feel bad about it, lol.

To moisturize my actual hair, I kept a simple regimen. I would use the shea butter blends I have laying around to moisturize my scalp itself, then when I didn’t use that, I would use a all natural hair grease I got from a natural company found on youtube like 2 years ago. I honestly was lazy this whole month with my hair. But needless to say, my hair *thank God* didn’t suffer.

Remove the baggage

Ok, so it’s not quite baggage, but I’m on a roll here, can’t you tell? Removing the hair was by far my more dreaded part of this whole thing. I mean, who wants to sit there and remove anything? Well, removing these aren’t half bad. To remove, simple cut the hair off at the base where it was tied. Then, unloose the cornrows underneath, and while doing so, you should notice the remaining extension hair begin to come out. That’s it! Check the video out below for a better view:

Summary:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE crochet braids now!! I’ll be showing you what my hair looks like in the aftermath in another post, so be sure to check it out! The only thing I will change next time I do crochet braids, is the hair I use (will use braiding hair and not weave hair), and as well change the braid pattern in the back. Oh, and watch a movie/tv while installing so I don’t feel too tired, and don’t start at 11pm!! Lol. Overall, I really enjoyed how easy this was to maintain, everyone who had no idea I cut my hair off, thought it was my hair, even when I did side parts..I’d say, this is better than a traditional weave, but that’s just my opinion. Anyhoo, please if you’re planning to do your own crochet braids, tell me below, or if you’ve tried them before, tell me about it. i love hearing from you all.

~Hope you enjoyed! Till next time, stay lovely and afroniquely you!
