Sometimes we find ourselves needing a big moisture boost, we find ourselves wanting something extra! I mean who doesn’t like looking at lush hair? Even more, who doesn’t enjoy touching and caressing soft moisturized tresses?

It’s winter, and in an effort to put a  ban on dry crusty hair, here’s a quick recipe that should do the trick.

Let’s talk ingredients that can help moisturize your hair, namely aloe vera juice, rose water and sweet almond oil.

Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe vera plant is well known for it’s slimy icky feel, but cooling properties. It’s great on burns and cuts, also good for cleaning out the system and purging impurities. It contains a good deal of enzymes and vitamins that can cleanse inside and out. It’s given as a supplement to many who suffer sludgy blood or suffer from colon issues. Aloe is also great on the hair. It soothes the cuticles and allows the hair shaft to be smooth, as well as impart a balance in the pH levels. It provides a lot of moisture to the hair because the hair can be stressed by wind and sun and environmental elements. Aloe vera is also rich in

  • Vitamin A (Beta-Carotene)
  • Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)
  • Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
  • Vitamin B3 (Niacin)
  • Vitamin B5
  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)
  • Vitamin B12
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Choline
  • Folic Acid
  • Calcium, Chromium, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Potassium, Phosphorous, Sodium, Zinc

Rose Water

Rose water is created by steeping rose petals in water. This water has been used for centuries and ages in beauty treatments and health and food in the Eastern culture for a very long time. Rose water can provide  high amounts of vitamin A, vitamin B3, vitamin C, vitamin D and vitamin E. They also have citric acid, bioflavonoids, zinc and tannins. It can be used for a after wash body splash, a mild toner, and even a moisturizer. Some people have used it for even a mild fragrant.

Sweet Almond Oil

Almonds are well known nuts that provide us with an alternative for peanut butter, and as been recently made popular in the form of Nutella! But if it’s not the food you’re concerned about, check this out: Sweet Almond oil is good for nourishing hair and smoothing the hair cuticles, making the hair long thick and strong, it can add shine and help control hair fall. It is also good for helping to lighten dark spots on the skin, work as a good massage oil, cures chapped lips and body rashes.

The Moisturizer Mix

What you’ll need:

  • Rose water
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Aloe Vera Juice
  • Spray bottle
  • Tablespoon and 1/4 measuring cup

How to Mix It:

Combine 1/4 cup of rose water into the spray bottle, mix in 1 tablespoon of aloe vera juice and 1 tablespoon of the sweet almond oil. Combine and shake well together in the spray bottle. Use daily as need to add moisture back to your tresses.

If you’d like, here’s another recipe including aloe vera for your tresses, I used it as a Pre-Poo mix

How awesome is this! I found a video that fits perfectly with this post. Shelley Chapman, who I have worked with in times past on the NaturiBeauty series, check out the video below:

share with me: have you used any of these ingredients before? how did your hair or skin like them?

~Hope you enjoyed

My hair really loves the rose water/aloe vera spritz.  It does a great job of moisturizing.  I have an issue, however with the smell.  I don’t know if it’s the aloe vera or the rose water or the combination of the two, but whatever it is, I don’t care for it.  It’s really starting to get to me.  Any ideas on how I can temper the smell a bit?  Maybe some essential oils?
